Photography projects I’m working on these days are gradually inching towards there: Summer. It’s a perk; a literal “icebreaker” for January here in T.O (and my heartfelt preference to Xmas cookie baking and turkey recipes we’re put to task to shoot during the actual Summer).

Although firmly wedged months away from grilling without parkas, we can still eat an emblem of summer grilling….Ribs.  On the topic, visit Cottage Life’s Grill Guide 2009 for some fabulous recipes by Jane Rodmell, photographed by Derek Shapton, food styled by me, and propped by Catherine Dougherty. We travelled north to a lakeside location and shot a hungry gang of diners on buckets of ribs served the right way (on dock and deck), all feasting and photographing till the sun went down.

ribsWhile you’re at it, check out Cottage Life’s Deputy Editor Martin Zibauer’s blog, Cottage Feast . His foodie ramblings are smart and delicious, and remind me why I like cottaging (and sharing good eats) anytime of the year.
